THIS is the famous Charters Towers stock exchange - if you don't know the importance of this building and why it's in Charters Towers - do some research!
This is inside a bank building - now a cinema....
This vault is in the foyer - the bank liked to show off how safe your money was.....
Inside the stock exchange building.
You are so right - it's an ambulance building!
Details of their first motorised ambulance - surprise surprise it still runs and it's a FORD!!!!!!!
Their day to day working uniform circa 1940s.
Still registered - look at the original plate.
Charters Towers first ambulance - given after Clifton got a new one.
The treatment room
Hmmmm- looks real inviting!
Instrument/medicines cupboard.
Incident book. They have every book of records from day 1 of operations.
I suppose this was a welcome sight if you were sick or injured.
Inside the Ford ambulance
Pretty basic controls.
Just slightly different from a modern ambulance.
Charters Towers very first ambulance. People power was used even before horse power. Ambulance centres could not afford to buy a horse, let alone the upkeep.
Things don't seem to have changed much in that regard.
If you ever feel inclined to make a donation to a worthy cause, how about the Ambos????
