We shall soon be leaving Cooktown.

We went to the Lion's Den Hotel for lunch today. Nothing too exciting but it was fun anyway. We will be glad to leave Cooktown - only because of the weather - too damn humid. Could not handle summer here.
After lunch we decided we had better go fishing at least once! We had decided on trying our luck at Quarantine Bay - incoming tide so that was good - wind in your face at 20knots - nuh - try somewhere else. The somewhere else we decided on was just out of town at the entrance to Endeavour River. Still windy but not quite as bad, tide incoming but the water was brown still. Decided to give it a go anyway - suddenly I decided not to fish......about 2 metres out from the rocks I saw a triangular fin about 40 cms high just gliding through the water; then a few metres more away, a slightly smaller fin. Just a couple of sharks that I COULD see coming into the river for a feed!

Actual anchor from Endeavour (forgot to put in yesterday's blog)

This shot doesn't do the track, to the mouth of the Annan River, justice. Most of the track is 1st Gear, 4wd high. Occasionally had to get into 4wd low - still 1st gear as the sand was powdery. When we got to the end of the track the mouth of the river was a long drive along a narrow beach with the tide coming in - so we decided to give that a miss as well!!!! bugga. Will go fishing tomorrow come hell or high water
