Just before we left Sarina, Val managed to meet some 'crafty' women and they taught her how to make a sopper-upper for her wine glass. It is made from cloth and catches the condensation (that will only occur if you are a very slow drinker - not usually a problem for us or our friends!). Thinks they call them - 'mug rugs'!
We are now in Bowen, at a van park that is O.K. - we didn't have much choice - place is full of Victorians!
For those that don't know, Bowen was used for some of the scenes for the film, Australia. Boy oh boy - everywhere advertises what places were used for different scenes.
After sorting out our some affairs at Centrelink we decided to do the 'tourist' thing and went to Flagstaff Hill lookout. Here you get the most majestic 360 degree view of Bowen. The Whitsunday Islands (74 of them) seem close enough to touch. It appears to be a boaties paradise! The photos we have taken do not do justice to the actual scenes and colour of the sea.

There are houses just below this rock! |

Look in the background - Bowen dogs (or their owners) cannot read! |

How would this be for morning brekky/afternoon drinks! It is only a few metres to a beautiful little bay> |

NOTE:- We are starting to think that eating places believe that tourists want to only eat once a day :- for the second time since we have been on the road, we went to a pub for lunch - I decided I just wanted a burger - chook and Val just ordered a Chook caesar wrap. Chook burger came with a knife and fork (thankfully) and a huge pile of chips and Val's wrap was actually two wraps and a pile of chips. Maybe they thought - poor old pensioners - let's give them a good feed! Yep, we are fading away to shadows - of elephants!!!!!!
